8 ways businesses can contribute to a more socially engaged region

26 June 2026

More and more companies are looking for ways to make a real difference in society—not just because it’s expected of them, but also because it aligns with who they are as an organization.

Collaborating with social organizations often yields more than you might expect. It boosts your visibility as an organization, helps attract and retain employees, and fosters new connections. Clients, such as government agencies, are also increasingly asking for demonstrable social impact.

Whether you’re just starting out or already taking steps in this direction, there are various ways to contribute. By choosing what works best for you, you can make an impact in a way that aligns with your organization. That’s why we’re sharing 8 ways companies can contribute to a more socially engaged region.

1. Engage corporate volunteers

The most direct way to make a difference. Employees volunteer for a nonprofit organization, either on their own or together with colleagues. This benefits society as well as job satisfaction, engagement, and collaboration within your own organization.

2. Share your expertise pro bono

Share your knowledge and experience, for example, in marketing, HR, finance, IT, or strategy. For many nonprofit organizations, this expertise isn’t readily available. You can share your expertise on a one-time basis or through a long-term partnership.

3. Sponsorship and partnerships

Provide financial support to a local initiative, either as a one-time contribution or long term. Through a partnership, you work together to build something that goes beyond a one-off contribution. Through our funding community, we bring funds and social initiatives together and facilitate targeted matches.

4. Payroll giving

Make it easy for employees to donate through their paychecks. Employees donate a small amount each month, which is automatically deducted. This lowers the barrier for employees to contribute regularly to a charity.

5. Donation matching

Double employees’ donations; this encourages employees to give and maximizes the impact of their contributions.

6. Contribute in resources

It doesn’t always have to be about money. Consider materials, resources, or spaces that you can make available. From laptops to office furniture, sometimes the value lies precisely in what you already have.

7. Fundraising campaigns and events

Organize a campaign or join an existing event, such as runs, challenges, or team activities and link it to a charity. Working together toward a common goal creates energy and engagement.

8. Network introductions

Use your network to help nonprofit organizations. A good introduction can make all the difference for a nonprofit. Introduce nonprofit organizations to relevant partners, clients, or other companies. This helps them grow and expands their reach and opportunities.

No matter how you choose to contribute to a more socially inclusive region, there’s always a way that fits your organization. Sometimes the first step is closer than you think. Would you like to brainstorm this with us? We’d be happy to work with you to figure out what works for your organization and how you can put it into practice.
