A team from Vanderlande helped out with the Exercise Week at Vitalis Parc Gender. Suzanne van den Bel, team captain at Vanderlande, said afterwards:

“The conversations with the residents were special and sometimes confrontational, but above all very valuable. Everyone participated enthusiastically and was incredibly grateful. It showed that something simple, like playing a game together, can bring a lot of fun and connection. Very meaningful.”

A team from Eindhoven Airport brought the Christmas spirit to elderly residents in the neighborhood around Vitalis Berckelhof with delicious waffles. Mieke Schouwink: “It was an afternoon full of warmth and Brabant conviviality. Away from our daily work, there was room for genuine encounters and personal conversations. What stays with us most is the connection and gratitude we felt.”

Melissa van Tuijl from DLL as top corporate volunteer tells what moves her:”At DLL, we are keen to roll up our sleeves and lend a helping hand wherever it is needed, with teams across the organisation. A great start has already been made by supporting the transformation of a Rabobank building into accommodation for refugees from Ukraine. Together with more than 100 colleagues, we helped turn the space into a place to stay, and hopefully we are able to offer these people a safe environment. It feels meaningful to bring a small smile to someone’s face. One moment that has always stayed with me was during a volunteer activity called “Glow Walking with the Elderly.” One woman told us she had not been into the city for years. She thought the display window at De Bijenkorf was the most beautiful part of the entire GLOW festival, and she could have stood there admiring it for hours. Something that feels completely ordinary to many of us, and that we often simply walk past without a second thought.

It shows that happiness can often be found in the smallest moments—something we can all continue to learn from.”

Bedrijfsvrijwilligers van Philips bezorgden de ouderen van Vitalis Peppelrode een heerlijke middag door ze te trakteren op een high tea.

Wat deze middag extra bijzonder maakte, was hoe blij de bewoners waren met iets wat misschien klein lijk.” voegt Patricia toe “Terwijl het redelijk eenvoudige hapjes waren. Mensen vonden het ook leuk om eens samen te eten.” Erika herinnert zich vooral de verhalen: “Mensen op leeftijd hebben al zoveel meegemaakt. Het is leuk om hier meer over te horen.”

Voor het team was deze middag meer dan alleen vrijwilligerswerk. “Voor mij is het belangrijk om een goede band met mijn directe collega’s te hebben. Om elkaar beter te leren kennen en een goede relatie te hebben. De versterkt de onderlinge connectie en dat helpt ook voor het werk.” vertelt Patricia. “Het is goed om als team een keer in een totaal andere omgeving samen te werken” deelt Monique. En Erika vult aan: “Het is fijn dat Philips ons de gelegenheid biedt om tijdens de werktijd iets te betekenen voor anderen. Het is een leuke afwisseling op de dagelijkse bezigheden op kantoor en tegelijkertijd een vorm van teambuilding.”
