The Social Heroes made a big social impact on Friday, March 13, at no fewer than five different organizations across Eindhoven.
As an initiative that connects students with social organizations, Social Heroes truly demonstrated what they stand for that day: making a positive impact and creating meaningful connections between TU Eindhoven and society.
And those connections were clearly felt. Despite the bad weather, volunteers got to work with great energy. At Wasven, they worked in the gardens; at Glorieuxpark Eindhoven, a lively casino afternoon took place; and at the Zonnebloem Actief, people enjoyed crafting together. At Vitalis Wilgenhof and Stichting Met je hart Eindhoven, Social Heroes also created many special moments.
What made the day particularly memorable were the personal encounters. One student shared what stood out most to him: “I really enjoyed seeing all the happy faces during the activity and connecting with people I don’t normally get to speak with.”
According to Joep Schrickx of Social Heroes, the impact goes beyond just this one day: “Above all, we hope to show students—relatively young people—that volunteering can be a lot of fun and a meaningful way to help others, so they might be inspired to do it more often in the future.”
