"Going bowling as a team activity is enjoyable, but this volunteer activity had a much greater impact. It was meaningful for us and for others."
Sustainable Development Goals:Get your feet off the floor! In September, Vanderlande visited Vitalis Parc Gender to support their ‘Exercise Week’. Playing active games with the residents was not only good for the atmosphere, but also for their vitality! Big smiles everywhere, a wonderful example of how you can make a difference as a company or team.
It was the first time the Vanderlande team had done corporate volunteering. Suzanne van den Bel, Vanderlande’s team captain, said afterwards:
“The conversations with the residents were special and sometimes confrontational, but above all very valuable. Everyone participated enthusiastically and was incredibly grateful. It showed that something as simple as playing a game together can bring a lot of fun and connection. Very meaningful.”
Anisa Slegers from Vitalis Parc Gender also had a great afternoon:
“The volunteers brought so much enthusiasm with them. I could really see that it had a positive effect on our residents; it gave them energy too. A wonderful interaction!”
And what would Suzanne say to other colleagues/company volunteers?
“DO IT! It’s very special to do and experience this as a team. You make a social impact in our region together and get to know your colleagues in a different way, through deeper and more personal conversations. It really improves the team atmosphere!”
